All about: Structured Data

Heard our SEO team throw this term around? Structured data is code (known as “schema.org”) that you put on your webpage to help search engines like Google understand what your page is all about.

When search engines understand your content better, they can show your page more accurately in search results. This means your page becomes more relevant to people’s search queries, which can lead to better search results for you.

1. It puts labels on different things on your web page so that search engines can understand what they mean. For example, it tells search engines which parts are your business name, sales phone number, Christchurch office address, questions, and their answers.

2. It also helps connect your website to other things like other websites or social media pages. So, it tells search engines that this is your main website, but this is your Facebook page, and this is your YouTube channel. This way, search engines get a better idea of how everything is related.

By using structured data, search engines can display a site’s content in a more useful and visually appealing manner, such as rich snippets, rich cards, carousels, and knowledge boxes. As a result, businesses can attract their ideal customers more effectively.
