It turns out we have a lot of acronyms that get thrown around & it’s been brought to our attention that not everyone is catching what we’re throwing. So we thought we’d break it down!
• CPA: Cost Per Acquisition – The cost you pay to acquire a new customer through a marketing campaign. Aka what we are good at bringing down!
• CPC: Cost Per Click – The amount you pay each time someone clicks on your ad. This one explains itself…
• CPM: Cost Per Mille (Thousand Impressions) – The cost you pay for every 1,000 times your ad is shown. Don’t let mille make you think million – we’ve all been there!
• CMP: Consent Management Platform – A consent management platform is a tool that helps websites collect and manage user consent and consent mode signals – which enables you to fully take advantage of conversion modelling in Google Ads..
• CPLC: Cost Per Link Click – The average of the amount you have spend on an ad, divided by how many clicks it received. Just good maths that one.
• CRO: Conversion Rate Optimisation – Working all the magic of marketing to optimise your conversion rate.
• CTA: Call to Action – The reminder of the action you want a reader to take at the end of a piece of content. This could be anything from clicking a link to leaving a comment.
• CTR: Click-Through Rate – The percentage of people who see your ad and click on it. higher is of course better!
• IA: Information Architecture – The organisation of information on a website or app for optimal user experience.
• MREC: Middle Rectangle – A standard size for online advertising banners (300×250 pixels). Keep all the good things within it!
• ROAS: Return On Ad Spend – the what you get out of what you put in. A metric that measures the profitability of your advertising campaigns. Usually a percentage increase!
• SAAS: Software as a Service – software that through a subscription you have access to. E.g. Netflix, SalesForce, HubSpot, Slack etc!
• SEO: Search Engine Optimization – The art of optimising your website or content to rank higher in search engine results. Aka one of our favourite things to do!
• SERP: Search Engine Results Page – The list that is displayed after making a search query on a search engine such as Google (or Bing if that’s what you’re into)
• UI: User Interface – The visual design and layout of a website or app that users interact with.
• UX: User Experience – The overall experience a user has when interacting with a website or app.
• WTF: Just checking you were paying attention!
